ABOUT US

OUR GOAL IS TO CREATE REPLICABLE MODELS OF COMPREHENSIVE CARE AND VILLAGE SUSTAINABILITY. OUR FIRST CARE CENTER OPENED IN AUGUST, 2012 IN ODEK SUB-COUNTY IN NORTHERN UGANDA AND IS CARING FOR OVER 100 CHILDREN.

WILL YOU HELP US EXPAND OUR WORK AND REACH HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN?

Our Vision

The vision of Hope for Humans is to work compassionately to create a future where children and families who have been afflicted with Nodding Syndrome receive the lifelong medical care and supportive social services they need to enjoy their lives and become celebrated members of their village communities.

Families and caregivers, knowing their children are safe, will return to work and learn new skills becoming self-sufficient and creating vibrant villages.

To help children suffering from Nodding Syndrome, we:

  • Build Care Centers that provide medical care, healthy nutrition, clean water, and supply special education and recreation to NS children.
  • Work with local government relief agencies and other charitable organizations to improve the delivery of medical supplies and services to children with NS who live in remote villages.
  • Provide home medical and social service visits to children in the village who are too ill to visit the Center.
  • Deliver dignified hospice care to children who are in need.
  • Support research efforts to help find the cause and effective treatments for Nodding Syndrome.

To support their caregivers, we:

  • Facilitate vocational training, agricultural development, and worship in the centers
to foster local investment, community economic development and sustainability for
    our programs.
  • Provide psychosocial support for afflicted children and their families.
  • Train adults in the community to assist with the long term care needs associated with this chronic disease.
